The
'Physical' Just as you as an executive go in for your annual physical, there are times where you feel that it’s time to take a look at all publishing functions to get the publication doctor’s assessment of where you’re performing at peak health and where you need to make some adjustments. Publications, like people, have vital signs that need to be checked from time to time. Your PAI doctor will begin by interviewing you, then interviewing key managers from corporate down to operating levels. The physical begins
with the basics, taking a look at the niche you’re serving, your mission
statement, performance of key staffers, financial performance versus your
plan and performance versus your competitors. The functioning of systems
of all departments and the interaction between departments are closely
evaluated. A full written evaluation contains prescriptions to help solve
corporate health problems. The doctor then follows up through continuing
contacts by phone, e-mail, fax, and, if necessary, another house call in
order to monitor the desired progress. |
